Our network with continuous customer contact and reliable know-how enables winemakers around the world to produce with confidence.

Having grown up in Salgesch, Valais, Yvo Mathier acquired “Cave Fin Bec” near Sion together with his wife, Yvonne Mathier, in 2004. The vineyard has twelve employees and covers around 16 hectares, with 6.5 hectares located near the main winery building. Yvo and Yvonne Mathier are especially proud of their low CO2 footprint, achieved through a photovoltaic system and the fact that their production has been fully organic since 2018.

Why did you decide to work with Bucher Vaslin?

Bucher focusses on the core processes of our business. That’s why at “Cave Fin Bec” we have trusted in Bucher machines from the start and in every step of our production – from the destemmer at grape reception to the grape press.

What qualities persuaded you to choose Bucher Vaslin machines?

The “Xplus 50 IT”, our grape press from Bucher, is a super-soft press. I was easily convinced by the good quality and the durable material, which has a life of more than 30 years. It is not surprising that the presses from Bucher Vaslin are leading worldwide. They dispense with everything superfluous to the wine and focus on quality and price.

Which services of Bucher Vaslin do you use?

Our grape presses run for five to six weeks every year. In August, we use their expert maintenance service, including seal replacements. After the harvest, we employ Bucher Vaslin’s excellent winterising services. A big plus for me is the availability of connected services like the “Winect” app, which we are already using. The integration of digital processes is an ongoing trend from which our operations benefit.

In which situations do you particularly appreciate Bucher Vaslin’s connected services?

When a grape press loses air pressure because of a defective seal, the seal must be replaced as soon as possible – even if it’s 2 a.m. in the morning. The Bucher Vaslin monitoring programme alerts us immediately and we can take action. I’m looking forward to the time in the future, when the system will trigger delivery of the spare part all by itself.
